How To Choose A Filter Press

The filter press is composed of a frame, a pressing mechanism, and a filtering mechanism. It is an intermittent operation. Its filtering function is to extract the solids in the filter and realize the separation of solids and liquids. In the early 18th century, filter presses were widely used in the chemical, pharmaceutical, metallurgical, dye, food, brewing, ceramic, and environmental protection industries. Now it is also involved in medical, oil refining, sewage treatment, and other industries.

There are many types of filter presses, including plate and frame filter presses, chamber filter presses, vertical filter presses, automatic filter presses, membrane filter presses, belt filter presses, circular filter presses, etc. . There are different classifications according to different needs. According to the classification of filtration methods, it can be divided into the box filter press and belt filter press, diaphragm filter press, plate, and frame filter press. According to the structure classification, it can be divided into bridge filter press and belt filter press.

Two types of filter presses

1. Chamber filter press

The chamber filter press is squeezed by the plate frame to discharge the water in the sludge through the filter cloth to achieve the purpose of dehydration. When working, under the pressure of the feed pump, the material liquid that needs to be filtered is sent to each filter chamber. Then filter media (select the appropriate filter cloth according to different industries) to separate the solid and liquid. A filter residue is formed on the filter cloth until the filter chamber is filled to form a filter cake. The filtrate passes through the filter cloth and flows along the filter plate groove to the lower outlet channel, and is discharged in a concentrated manner. After the filtration is completed, the filter press is turned on to remove the filter cake (the filter cake is stored between two adjacent filter plates), and the filter cloth is cleaned. Re-press the plate filter to start the next working cycle. In this way, the continuous cycle work achieves the purpose of solid-liquid separation.

2 Belt filter press

The belt filter press feeds the sludge evenly into the mesh belt through the cloth hopper and moves forward with the filter belt. The fluidity is reduced, preparing for further squeezing. Gravity dehydration goes through the wedge-shaped pre-pressing dehydration stage, and the slight squeezing dehydration ensures the smooth squeezing and dehydration of the sludge. The upper and lower filter belts are used to clamp the filter cake around the press roller to repeatedly squeeze and shear to remove a large amount of capillary water and gradually reduce the water content of the filter cake to achieve dehydration.

It is precise because of the variety of types that when purchasing the corresponding filter press, not only the practical type of the filter press itself must be considered, but also the cost of processing with it. And a high-end and suitable filter press will save you a lot of costs. Many companies purchase filter presses for sewage treatment. The processing capacity of the equipment cannot support the amount of sludge produced, which often results in sludge accumulation. According to environmental protection regulations: Only sludge with a moisture content of 60% or less can be recycled. Therefore, when purchasing a filter press, the primary factor is the water content of the sludge treated by the equipment. What type of filter press should we choose to suit the amount of sewage that needs to be treated every day.
